Core Values

• Worship is central to the life of any Christian Community and that is certainly true of the congregation at Flat Lick. The initiative of our worship lies with God and He is the focus. The dominant character is praise and includes the reading of Scriptire, Psalms, confession of sins, prayers of the people, singing and the celebration of the sacraments of the Lord's supper and baptism. The nature of worship is both private and corporate both of which are necessary for the feeding of the other. The style is as varied as the times and culture in which the worshiping community lives. • Fellowship of the believer is being brought into unity with the Trinity and other fellow believers willing to focus on a common goal for the honor and glory of God. (Philipians 3:7-11; 1 Corinthians 2:2)
  
  
• Discipleship is the process where the Holy Spirit through the Word of God leads, invites and works obedience in the life of the believer that reflects the character, holiness and maturity of Christ. This value is instilled through Christian Education, Community Groups, Men and Women Mentoring Ministries and Youth activities offered through the church family. (Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Peter 2:1-3)
  
  
• Ministry/Mission is a call of God to service,not position. It is always a call to join God in what He is already doing and not an offering or gift to God for what He has done. (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:7-16; 1 Peter 2:9-10)
  
  
• Evangelism is the privilege and honor of every born-again blood bought believer of the Lord Jesus Christ. This core value is such a high priority, we ask every new memeber to sign up for the next available course in the Way of the Master Evangelism training when becoming a memeber.
